GUANGZHOU: India’s Ashish Kumar has won his country’s first Asian Games medal in artistic gymnastics.
Kumar won the bronze in the floor exercise Tuesday as the apparatus finals got under way in Guangzhou.
The 19-year-old adds the medal to the two he won at the Commonwealth Games last month in New Delhi, making him India’s most decorated gymnast.
Tying for the gold in the floor exercise were South Korea’s Kim Soo-myun and Zhang Chenglong of China. Kim rebounded from a fourth-place finish in the men’s individual all-around competition the night before.
Men and women are also competing for medals in the pommel horse, still bars, vault and uneven bars. -AP
